BuyDay Friday: The Smartest Clutch Ever!

To say I’m a handbag lover is a bit of an understatement. I’ve amassed quite the comprehensive collection of satchels, totes, clutches and top-handles in my time. photo

Yet somehow the search for the perfect purse continues unabated. My latest lust: the nifty clutch from Everpurse, which not only looks chic as hell but charges your smartphone as you go.

Just drop your iPhone 4, 4S, 5 or Samsung Galaxy S III onto the dock connector secreted in the interior pocket and it’ll charge all day (Everpurse claims at a rate of about one percent a minute for up to two full charges a day). Then, when you get home, just put the bag on top of its (included) charging pad. It charges itself wirelessly overnight so the next morning you’re good to go’ just put your phone back in the clutch’s pocket any time you need some juice.

I adore my iPhone but given all the stuff I do on it all day, it’s usually dead by lunchtime. So I’ve been using a charging case, which gives me about twice the battery life but also makes the phone look a lot bigger and heavier. And let’s face it, putting your super-sleek iPhone in a battery case is like putting a supermodel in a puffy down-filled parka and sending her down the runway. Not cute. So Everpurse bags seem like the perfect compromise between retaining my iPhone’s form and preserving its all-day function. And as I travel and shop my way around the Caribbean and beyond, I can SO see myself toting this colorful little number.

At 6” x 7.5” the Everpurse is big enough for your daily essentials but sufficiently compact to throw into a larger travel tote. And each comes with the charging mat and either a wristlet attachment or a longer strap so you can wear the bag crossbody. Ranging in price between $189 and $319, the bags, which come in fabric or leather, certainly aren’t cheap. But can you put a price on looking cute and being connected at the same time?

Everpurse's spring 2013 collection is available for pre-order now. Bags are expected to ship in March.
