The JetSetter's Holiday Gift Guide

It’s no secret that “I like nice things” (Translation: “I like a lot of stuff that is crazy expensive but I think I’m worth it.”) So now that the holiday season is officially upon us, I thought I’d share six indulgences on my lust list this year. None of them is exactly a bargain, but perhaps one of them will be the perfect pressie for that extra special JetSetter in your life.

Smythson cosmetic case

What’s not to love about this satin-lined goatskin cosmetic case from posh British leathergoods purveyor Smythson’s Chameleon Collection? The quality is outstanding (as it should be for $245), but I’m totally swayed by the vibrant color palette. (I’ll take the yellow please, Santa.)

Tieks flats

I love a good platform shoe, but for sprinting along Caribbean airport concourses and slipping off at Security at MIA, I need a decent ballet flat. I’m intrigued by the Tieks brand, which comes in a dizzying array of colors and fabrics. I love that they’re cushioned, have non-slip rubber soles, and aren’t elasticized at the back so they don’t dig into your heel as some flats can. At between $175 and $295 a pop, they’re an investment. But you can’t put a price on comfy feet, right?

Everpurse Phone-Charging Clutch

I’m JetSetSarah and I’m an iPhone addict. My “baby” is clutched in my hand from the second my eyes fly open in the morning until they shut, so by noon my battery’s usually DOA. I’m a big fan of my Mophie charging case, but it does add a little bulk and weight to the phone. So for times when I want to go “naked,” I’d love one of Everpurse’s nifty clutches (from $189), which charge your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy when you put it in the dock concealed in the inside pocket. Genius!

Anthropologie cashmere blanket

Cashmere and the Caribbean may seem like an odd combo, but not when consider that I spend a lot of my time sitting in frigid aircraft and chilly airport lounges. This blanket, made by Himalayan weavers from Nepalese yarns – so it must be fab, right? – is a HUGE step up from those scratchy polyester airline ones (never mind the $598 price tag).

Anya Hindmarch Inflight Case

Screen Shot 2013-11-26 at 5.40.10 PMScrew those quart-size Ziploc bags; I need a TSA-approved toiletry tote that’s functional and fun. Anya’s patent leather-and-plastic case ($250) fits the bill, with two separate transparent sections for take-off and touch-down essentials, and interior elastic holders to keep bottles upright.

Canon Rebel t5i

Screen Shot 2013-11-26 at 5.51.13 PMOne of my goals for 2014 is to shoot more video on my trips, and all photographers and video bloggers I know rave over this Canon jobbie (around $1,000), which not only takes great shots but shoots HD video, too. (Of course, I’m gonna need a cute custom strap and bag to carry it in, but we’ll save that for my Valentine’s Day  list…)
